Where Can I Get a Dr Note for Work
Theodor Seuss Geisel produced some of the most memorable books that still inspire us today. March 2 would mark his 106th birthday if he were still with us, and WD wants to honor the beloved role model that he was. He still has such an influence that companies all over the world have created products inspired by his creativity, characters and famous quotes. From Pottery Barn's bedspreads and wall decals to Universal Orlando Resort's roller coaster, check out these nine tributes to one of the greatest children's authors.
Food Set
These wool green eggs and ham look like the real thing, but they're just a means to get your child to eat and play. Lilly Bean specializes in play food made out of felt, with the goal of encouraging little ones to like food and play with toys that spur creativity. Photo courtesy of LillyBeanMarket.com.
Room Decor
Decorate your child's room with all things Seuss! Pottery Barn's set includes everything you need to make your child feel like he or she is in Whoville, including sheets, a duvet cover, decals and artwork. Photo courtesy of PotteryBarnKids.com.
Bat Mitzvah
Believe it our not, this bat mitzvah was planned in two weeks for Jessi Rivin by her father, Toni, and the marketing coordinator for FantaSea Yachts, Leah Puccio. Aboard the FantaSea Yacht one late afternoon in August 2009, each table donned a whimsical character from Dr. Seuss—including Horton and the Grinch. All the party favors were Seuss-style, from the escort cards to the rainbow-colored candles. Photo courtesy of FantaSeaYachts.com.
Bento Box
Artist Amorette Dye "loves Dr. Seuss because he embraced nonsense," which, she says, is similar to the reason she is a food artist. She created this bento box by first coloring the rice orange and boiling two egg whites. The "ham" was actually made from turkey because it kept the green color better and Dye "painted" it with a toothpick using black food coloring. Photo courtesy of Amorette Dye via Flickr.com .
Mad Hatter Cake
This adorable creation was made by cake decorator Fran McGregor in March 2009, for her best friend Nati's birthday party as well as for a cake competition in Melbourne, Australia. The base is made from dark chocolate and topped with an orange coconut tier. The cartoon fish and droplets of water are made from modeling paste. Photo courtesy of Fran McGregor .
Islands of Adventure's 'The Cat in the Hat' Ride
If you haven't experienced this ride, which travels through the pages of the Dr. Seuss classic, you're missing out—it's one of the most popular attractions at this Universal theme park. You'll see Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat and maybe even experience a bump and a thump or two. Photo courtesy of UniversalOrlando.com.
IHOP's 'Horton Hears a Who!' Menu
For a limited time in 2008, pancake diner IHOP and 20th Century Fox teamed up for a breakfast like no other. With Beezlenut Splash, Who-Cakes, Mayor's Breakfast and Jo-jo's Kid's Breakfast, the restaurant not only promoted the new film, but tickled kids' taste buds—and imaginations—all over America. 'The Cat in the Hat' Cake
Christine Guzman is the owner of The Quaint Cake Co. in Boca Raton, Florida, a business she has operated for three years. She made this Dr. Seuss–themed cake last November for a girl's first birthday party. Although it took seven hours to create, Guzman says it was actually one of the easier and less time-consuming cakes to make because of all the preplanning she did. Photo courtesy of QuaintCake.com
Sculpture Garden
The touring Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden has graced Hotel del Coronado, the San Diego Zoo and the Fresno Metropolitan Museum in addition to many other sites. The six sculptures represent beloved characters from The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Lorax, Yertle the Turtle and Green Eggs and Ham. Photo courtesy of DrSeussArt.com.
